Every Portrait Tells a Story...

Bahleu
I was delighted when this special couple found me! They are celebrating their ten year wedding anniversary and are newly pregnant! We planned their anniversary portrait as a trip to Carmel, one of their favorite destinations and the place where they were engaged. They also wanted to bring their dog, Bahleu, who had been part of their "family" for their whole marriage. Soon after we planned their portrait they called to tell me Bahleu had cancer and how it was important to get the portraits done as planned. I met them in Carmel and we walked around town then down to the beach photographing as we went. They are a wonderful loving couple and they had a great time exploring and being photographed. It was a celebration of life. This is one of my favorite images from that day. I call it "Passing the Baton". As hard as this is for them, there seems to be some bigger plan at work. I was honored to be a witness and to be there documenting this circle of life.
